Open Source Social Networking for DotNetNuke

VivoSocial has been open source for 1 month now. It has been great seeing all of the excitement and feedback from the community this past month and we have even gotten our first two code contributions. Thank you David Trumble and "wpmilk".  This week we released version 7.0.3 of our social networking software and it is available on our downloads page or via social.codeplex.com.

Since the 7.0.3 release is out the door, I guess I can announce a few new features of a future release:

  1. SearchDirectory will have GPX file support for GPS integration. You can now export items directly to your GPS unit.
  2. Facebook integration. We already have Twitter integration and now when you submit a new item, you will be able to update your Facebook status/wall as well.
  3. Seamus will have Active Directory authentication fixed for the MS security update that broke it and once again will be able to crawl and index your intranet and files for the search engine using NTLM.
  4. Enterprise Edition will get new Ads Management interface for managing advertising on the site.
  5. Enterprise Edition will get integration with Catalook and templates for SearchDirectory and IndexItem for displaying products.
  6. More localization support. We have been busy cleaning up many small localization issues.
  7. A Windows Mobile application for submitting items to IndexItem.

We are scheduled to have a 7.0.4 release, which will have some of these features, but they should all be in the 7.1.0 release.

If you would like to request new features and integrations, please let us know by submitting them to http://support.vivoware.com/.
