We were very busy last month, especially the last couple of weeks. As I mentioned in my post this week, Venexus will no longer support DNN 4 module updates. So, on the 30th of September, we released many updates of our modules for DNN 4 and DNN 5. This will be the last release for DNN 4 updates. Starting next week, releases will be a new version number (5.1), utilizing the new DNN 5 manifest files.

On Wednesday, September 30th, we provided the following module updates for our 3rd Quarter:
  • WebControls was updated to fix a couple of bug issues related to Comments.
  • The release of WebServices includes our new Comments API.
  • The Tag Cloud module was updated to fix validation issue for TabId’s over 999.
  • The Downloads module release fixes a issue with the calendar date picker.
  • The Search module was also released with a bug fix for FireFox when clicking the Enter button to execute a search. Also, the Search Providers look and feel has been updated for the dropdown option in the query textbox.

When adding or editing a search provider, you have the option to uncheck "Show in Dropdown". By unchecking it, the dropdown search providers filter will not display that search engine option.

You can now add a custom filter dropdown to the search query textbox. This is added in the module settings as a delimited list of options. VisibleText;OptionValue|

Example: None;System Center|OpsMgr 2007;Operations Manager|ConfigMgr 2007;Config Manager|DPM;Data Protection Mgr|SCE 2007;Essentials (SCE)|X-Plat;X-Plat|Hyper-V;Hyper-V

Here is what it looks like rendered:

When submitted, locally it performs category searches across all matching categories in the database. When performing API query, such as Bing API, it will pass the OptionValue as part of the search query to the external service.

  • VenexusIndexItem release includes two bug fixes as well as some new features.  Overall, there is a new look and feel to the module.
New Features/Enhancements
o    New token: [THUMBNAILSMediaPlayer] which works the same way as  [THUMBNAILSSCROLL] but without using jMyCarousel.min.js.
o    [MYITEMSURL] & [ADDITEMURL] have been added to the the details.body.html template.
o    [WHOVIEWED] & [WHOREVIEWED] display a list of profile pictures with links to profile.
o    [RELATEDPAGES] has been added. This uses same template as RELATEDITEMS for wiki. However, the difference is that it will find related items, and perform keyword lookup of related pages.
o    [RANDOMMEDIA] & [RANDOMMEDIA:X]  - same as latest media but is random, "X" represents an integer for up to that number of media.
o    [PROFILESEARCHTABID] for profile linking.
Here is an example of the new template:
Also, checkout the rendering of the new WhoViewed and WhoReviewed:
Here is an example of related pages:
  •  Search Directory module now supports XSPF files. One item to note is that there are several Flash Players that support the XSPF format, such as JWPlayer. Therefore, you can use an instance of SearchDirectory to populate a Flash Player that supports XSPF files.
  • The Venexus Profile Search module release fixes a few bugs.
o    There is now a link to import a new template on the "change template" page. This makes it less confusing on a clean install where no template has been uploaded yet.
o    In some cases, users were receiving a ’Lists’ object name is not valid error on the main view if objectqualifiers were used.
o    Some users reported a DNN profile error after uninstalling the module. A sqldataprovider file has been changed to fix this.
Please read the documentation available for download here.  The modules can be downloaded here.
We are excited about moving forward with many new features in our modules in the future. With 2 new audio related projects, lookout for more audio and media related functionality. Stay tuned!
